If you love the excitement and adrenaline of backstage, if you are curious about the technical elements that make a professional production come to life then this two year Higher National Diploma course is for you. The HND in Performing Arts (Technical Arts) will provide you with the skills and experience necessary to begin your career in the theatre and film industry.
You’ll engage in hands on learning in professional productions, team working with other courses and providing you with a strong foundation in the skills required while allowing you to train in specialist areas such as:

In your second year you are given the opportunity to take on creative and leadership roles within a production team through learning about the design process and being involved in the management of production departments..

Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate: O6/H7 in 4 subjects plus at least one O2/H6. Subjects must include English.
or QQI Level 5 Award in a related discipline with a Merit profile.

Mature applicants who have relevant experience and may not meet the above requirements are welcome to apply.
Our Graduates have been very successful in gaining employment in theatre and performance industries both in freelance and in-house positions such as stage managers, lighting and sound technicians and designers.
Graduates of Technical Theatre at Inchicore College have progressed to Trinity College, The Lír Academy and IADT and through their BTEC Higher National Diploma they can gain access to advanced entry to degree programmes in the UK in colleges such as University of East London, and Portsmouth University.
Since graduating from ICFE Lisa Krugel has been working as freelance Stage Designer, Lighting Designer/ Technician. Some recent design work includes: The Hunt For Red Willie (Exit Excitedly),The Watchman (Dublin Theatre Company), La Traviata (Glasthule Opera Festival), Love In Dublin (Fire and Ice Theatre Co. / Focus Theatre), Reunion (The New Theatre).
Lisa also continues to work as Lighting Designer/ Technician on such productions as Amour (PlayActing Theatre Productions and as Stage Manager with companies such as Classic Stage Ireland, Rose Upon The Rood, Dancemasters, The New Theatre, The Abbey School of Music and Drama, Bluepatch, Idir Mná, and Marsha Hunt.
She greatly enjoys her work and is grateful for the opportunities, inspiration and encouragement she has gained from her tutors and colleagues at ICFE.
