Time: 7.15pm-8.15pm (Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up your equipment).
Start: 13.01.2026
Duration: 8 weeks (no classes 17th February & 17th March)
Fee: €110 euro (It is CDETB policy that refunds are only issued if a course does not form. Before booking, please see our terms and conditions page).
Notes: Students must have their own sewing machine for this course. Please only book a space if you can bring your own machine. There are no storage facilities in the college. All courses are subject to a minimum number in order to proceed. In the event that a course is oversubscribed, places will be offered on a first-booked, first-served basis and a waiting list will then be created. You will be contacted in this event.
Description:

Students must have their own sewing machine.
This class will give students the space and knowledge to further develop existing sewing skills, understand how clothing comes together and to be able to finish garments to a high standard.
– Sewing recap: sewing straight seams and sewing curved seams.
– Reading a pattern.
– Understanding how clothing comes together.
– Finishing seams, bias binding, and sewing buttons
– The importance of the cut.
– Final project, students will choose one of the following projects:
*Machine Caddy Apron (With or without frills) **Skirt (Gathered, circle or A-line) ***Trousers ***Pattern of students choosing
Materials required
- Sewing machine
- Fabric scissors
- Thread
- 1 metre of fabric for projects 1 and 2 (this can be recycled fabric like bedsheet or curtains)
- Fabric for final project will be required – this will be determined based on the pattern selected by the student.
