Have you always wanted to learn the guitar but never knew where to start? Our Guitar for Beginners course is designed for complete beginners and anyone looking to build a solid foundation in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Under the guidance of Des Byrne, you’ll learn the fundamentals of playing the guitar from the ground up. Classes cover everything you need to get started, including tuning your instrument, essential chords, effective finger placement, rhythm, and practical techniques that make learning easier and more enjoyable. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on songs you enjoy, helping you develop your skills while playing music you love.

Whether you’ve never picked up a guitar before or are returning to the instrument after a break, this course will give you the confidence and skills to keep playing long after the classes have finished.

The most important lesson of all? Music is for everyone. Come along, learn something new, and discover the enjoyment of making music in a friendly, encouraging atmosphere.

About your tutor: Des Byrne

Drawing on more than 25 years as a professional musician, Des understands the challenges that beginners often face and knows how to overcome them with clear instruction and guided practice. He aims to make learning accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for every student.

Des holds a degree in Music from Maynooth University (2007) and qualifications in Music Theory and Guitar from Trinity College London examinations. Alongside his teaching, he continues to perform professionally and is currently the Musical Director of a 16-piece big band, touring and performing music across a wide range of styles, including pop, jazz, and folk.
